What makes it different

1/8 metre voxels

Eight times finer than a one-metre block. Terrain, trees, and structures carry real detail without losing the building feel.

Things fall, burn, and flow

Trees topple when you cut through the trunk. Fire spreads along fuel and is put out by water. Water finds its own level.

Play together

Host a world from the menu and friends join over the local network. An authoritative server keeps everyone in sync.

Custom engine

Built from scratch in C++20 on SDL3. Greedy meshing, a worker pool, and GPU-driven culling keep 60 FPS on mid-range hardware.

Install and play

Windows

  1. Download the installer. Your browser will probably warn that it "could harm your device" because the installer is new and not code-signed yet. In Edge, open the downloads list, click the next to the file, then Keep, Show more, Keep anyway. In Chrome, click the ^ or next to the file, then Keep.
  2. Run it. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", choose More info, then Run anyway. It installs for your user only, so no administrator prompt.
  3. Launch Voxenite from the Start Menu or the desktop shortcut.

Needs a GPU with Direct3D 12 or Vulkan support. No extra runtimes to install. Every download has a published SHA-256 checksum on the release page if you want to verify it.

macOS

  1. Download the .dmg, open it, and drag Voxenite into Applications.
  2. Open Voxenite. macOS will block it the first time because the build is not notarized.
  3. Go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway. On older macOS, right-click the app and choose Open instead.

Universal binary for Apple silicon and Intel. Needs macOS 12 or newer.

Linux

  1. Download the .AppImage and make it executable: chmod +x voxenite-*.AppImage
  2. Run it. No installation, no root. It works on any recent distribution.

Needs a Vulkan-capable GPU and driver. x86-64 only for now.

Updates never touch your worlds. Uninstalling leaves the saves folder in place too.

Release channels

Stable

What the download button above gives you. Only major, tested releases land here. The game checks this channel on launch and offers the update when one is ready.

Dev

Every tagged build, including experiments. Expect bugs and save-format changes. To follow it, create a file named channel.txt in the game's install folder containing the word dev.
